CSIdentity's CyberAgent technology honored with Tech Innovation Award

CyberAgent scours illegal chat rooms for misuse of people's personal information

(Oct. XX, 2009) AUSTIN, Texas - Identity theft and fraud protection company CSIdentity (http://www.CSIdentity.com) confirmed its place as the technology leader in its industry with the company's most recent award. The Austin Business Journal recognized CSIdentity's CyberAgentSM product with its 2009 Tech Innovation Award in the Internet category.

CSIdentity's CyberAgent technology was developed by Harold Gottschalk, the company's Chief Technology Officer who was part of the team who developed the HNC/Fair product "Falcon" which is used by 90% of the U.S. banks to reduce credit card account take-over fraud by calling consumers to validate suspicious transactions.

"It is a great honor to be recognized for the technological advances our company has made to help protect people and businesses from identity theft," CSIdentity Chairman and CEO Bill Morrow said. "Criminals are buying and selling identities like commodities on eBay. We have created a system that searches the Internet 24 hours a day, seven days a week."

Identity thieves often use underground chat rooms to quickly sell hundreds or thousands of stolen identities. Personal information is auctioned off for as little as a $1, making it easy for interested buyers to purchase thousands of credit card or Social Security numbers with just the click of a button. CSIdentity's CyberAgent scours these criminal web sites, chat rooms and bulletin boards for the selling or trading of its subscribers' personal information. If a match is found with one of CSIdentity's subscribers, CSIdentity alerts the victim, provides him / her with a report of the information found and works with the subscriber to take the appropriate measures to stop the damages and restore the identity.

CyberAgent searches for and can detect multiple identity elements, including Social Security numbers, names, addresses, dates of birth, e-mail addresses, credit and debit card numbers, bank account, routing numbers and driver's licenses numbers. CyberAgent has found more than 3 million identity data points being sold online.

For businesses, such as banks, that employ CyberAgent, CSIdentity searches the internet black market for any matches of the businesses' routing and / or account numbers, which are provided to CSIdentity. Should one of the identified numbers be found, it is evidence that a security breach may have occurred. This allows the business to quickly notify its customers of the breach and issue new accounts proactively, saving the business and customer the stress and time often spent on identity theft restoration and recovery.

"It is important for consumers and businesses to be proactive in protecting their identities or the identities of their customers through advanced technology that goes beyond simple credit monitoring," Morrow said. "There organized crime factions located around the world, and you need a sophisticated and comprehensive protection program to keep your identity safe. CyberAgent is cutting-edge technology in identity theft protection, and it, combined with the seven other products included in our Security Suite, helps keep our customers safe and protected."
